Bellisle's first article detailing the abuse that Joanne Reid faced came out on December 3rd, 2024. Soon after, more women came forward detailing their own experiences during their time in professional biathlon. In addition, Safesport reported that "the survey showed that while 92% of male respondents said they felt comfortable raising concerns about athlete safety, only 52% of women did. Women were far more likely to say they feared negative consequences to their careers for reporting misconduct — 57% compared to 8% of men." Bellisle’s two articles detailing the abuse faced by female biathlete won an Associated Press Best of the Week Award and Honorable mention in 2024.
BEHIND THE SCENES
DIRECTOR'S NOTE
"Filming for this documentary took place in March of 2025 over four days in Winter Park, Colorado. I used two cameras, one light panel, and one microphone. Every night, I uploaded hours of video onto various hard drives, totaling around 20 hours of footage. The biggest challenge was filming in very cold temperatures, both for myself and the equipment I needed to carry. This project was very personal for me, and being able to capture raw moments in such a remote and beautiful location was one of the most incredible experiences of my life."

COLORADO BIATHLON CLUB
Hosted by the Colorado Biathlon Club, the first Joanne Reid Women's Biathlon Festival was in March of 2024, three months after the article detailing Joanne's experiences was published. The documentary follows the clinic's second year. It was entirely volunteer-based, and included women of all different ages, skill levels, and backgrounds. Colorado Biathlon Club primarily hosts races at Snow Mountain Ranch in Winter Park, Colorado, as well as skill camps and safety certification courses.
